Dad, Mom, & Joshua

Beijing, May 13-14

We arrived in Beijing on May 13, at 11PM.
Our guide Michael, was a great help in getting us settled in to our hotel.
We were in bed by 1:30AM and up for breakfast at 6AM.
The next 14 hours were spent touring Beijing.

Headed out on the tour bus

Joshua gives his smile of approval.
Riding a bus in China was one of his heart desires.

Touring Tiananmen Square, the largest city square in the world.
Here Joshua is posed with a picture of Mao behind him.
Mao ordered all missionaries removed from China during his rule.
We believe Joshua and Zoe will be used by God to help bring "His light"
back into their native country.

We took a 3 hour walking tour of the forbidden city.
Over 900 buildings and thousands of rooms.
Joshua was impressed that Emporers once lived here.
In this pic, young Emporer Joshua is
steering his carriage by applying pressure
to the head of the matter.

Forever making friends, Joshua befriended
a Chinese national boy in the Forbidden City.
Unable to speak each others native tongue, the language
of love and boyish fun quickly bridged the gap.

Another of Joshua's heart desires was to climb the Great Wall of China.
Once there, he was a little apprehensive of the task at hand.
"Are we really going to climb all the way up there?"

The wall stretches over 220 miles.
The section we visited went straight up.
The men'z only made it half way up,
before having to retreat for a bathroom break.

However, the men'z are proud to note that mom made it all the way!
Laurie is a warrior women through and through,
and the men'z of the family love her dearly.
